What it is
A founder community that takes one job seriously.
Inception Studio is the AI founder community for people who are already founders. We accept fewer than three percent of applicants, and the applicant pool is heavily pre-qualified — successful past founders, ex-operators from companies you've heard of, people with exits, people who've raised meaningful rounds before. The cohort works because everyone in the room is already operating at a high level.
Each cohort is a single four-day retreat. Six to eight companies. Ten to fifteen founders. In person, no remote sessions, no three-month curriculum. We don't teach founders how to be founders; we assume that's already settled. We exist to refine the pitch that closes their next fundraise. That's the entire job.
The retreat is funded by program sponsors and philanthropic donors. Inception Studio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We take zero equity, charge zero fees, and never will. The economics work because the program does one thing well rather than trying to be a full-service accelerator.
If that profile fits — proven, already shipping, ready to raise, and looking for a focused environment to sharpen the story that closes your round — the retreat is built for you. Applications are open and run rolling.
Why it's different
Not Y Combinator. Not a traditional accelerator.
Premium tier, not on-ramp
YC is for founders becoming founders. Inception is for founders who already are. Different audience, different program shape, different price (zero, in our case). Compare side by side.
One job, done deeply
Most accelerators try to teach you everything. We try to sharpen one thing — the pitch that closes your round. Mentors are matched against that, the curriculum is built around it, the four days are paced to deliver it.
Selective by design
Six to eight companies per batch. Roughly ten to fifteen founders. The size is deliberate — quality of feedback and depth of peer relationships both fall apart at 250-company scale.
Nonprofit, not extractive
Zero equity is not a marketing line; it's the legal structure. Inception is a 501(c)(3) funded by sponsors and donors who believe AI-native companies deserve a different kind of support than the standard accelerator model offers.
